A Call for Collaboration!

I've just signed on here at dawanda and have so far been really impressed with the quality and variety of merchandise and the friendliness of the members. I shoot very unusual photographs, very surreal, but always in a fashion/vintage style. I'm working on a new series of photographs of stylish objects, so if anyone is looking for a cool and distinct, professional photo of one of your products, let me know and maybe we can arrange a long-distance exchange/shoot. check out my work on dawanda (http://en.dawanda.com/shop/pamelaklaffke) or on my website at www.pamelaklaffke.com, and if you like what you see, feel free to get in touch — or just visit my shop anytime if you're looking for something interesting to hang on your walls.
cheers,
pamela

Cassette tape pouch - this is one of my bestsellers. It's a great little gift and you can put some little surprises in there, before you give it to someone. I used to make mix tapes for everyone all the time. Now, i don't have a working cassette player anymore. So i designed this in remembrance of all the mix tapes i made in the past :-)

Matryoshka wrapping paper the newest addition to my shop. I designed the pattern myself and had the paper printed. It's very colourful and cheerful and you can use it for almost any occasion! I even framed one piece and hung it on my wall.

8. Tell me a bit about you...

I'm a graphic designer, graduated in 2005. I soon realized that I didn't want to work in an advertising agency - like most graphic designers do. My favourite thing to do was illustrating and creating little products. Finally, my dream came true, when I got the chance to open my own shop in Hannover, Germany. I use it as a studio as well and I can't imagine any better job than this one!

9. Do you have a website, or blog? Yes: http://www.enna-online.com/

Introducing... Duffy Designs!

1. DaWanda Shop Name: Duffy Designs
2. Dawanda Shop URL: http://en.dawanda.com/shop/Duffydesigns
3. When did you open your shop? Jan.1,2008
4. Are you in the DaWanda Shop Directory here? Yes
5. What Category are you under? Jewellery category
6. What do you sell: Hand fabricated metal jewellery. I use primarily sterling silver, some copper, and bronze with found objects such as river rocks, shells, porcelain shards , and anything that looks natural and beautiful. My customers have begun giving me items to incorporate into my designs and I love the input! The shells, for instance, come from a special area of the Atlantic Coast off of North Carolina. They are roughly tumbled by the sea so that they become beautifully abstact. I've used the shell, rock, and porcelain shards in mosaic patterns with grout and I like that look. My designs have and are evolving with the various materials I find to use.

7. Describe 2 of your current projects:

I like to do so many different things it's really hard to keep a coherent "look" for my work. I think I will always, however, construct silver "boxes" in which to showcase objects I love. I will continue working with the shells and the porcelain shards in mosaics, but I also have been enjoying etching bronze and copper for use in larger designs. I'm still doing the Prismacolored steel designs because they are an endless rainbow of colors. I bounce between that and black! I have a way to blacken steel with heat and a beeswax mixture, so that's another way to go. I work on several ideas at a time.

8. Tell me a bit about you...
I am a 62 year old grandmother of three, a wife, and am owned by a Beagle and two cats. I love to garden and read when I'm not making jewelry. I'm very interested in learning . I still go to metal working workshops at Arrowmont Crafts School in the summers. I am just beginning to give classes in metal work. That will be a new adventure, I'm sure. I used to do many art shows but am down to one local one and an Open Studios event in November. It's great to have the feed back from those events.

Help required for the Links Directory... Free advertising!!

The DaWanda Community has really grown over the last year and with so many of us now I think it is now time to share the comunity blog and related directory with other shop owners who would like to contribute.

I want to start with the Shop Links Directory at http://dawandashopdirectorylinks.blogspot.com, which is fast becoming a great way to find DaWanda Shops.

Why am I looking for help? Well, honestly for two main reasons. Firstly my own work often makes keeping up with this blog difficult, but secondly and more importantly to DaWanda sellers, I want this to become more of a community thing. The DaWanda community spirit is something really to be proud of and I feel together we could really turn this little blog into a great show case for sellers... maybe even create more sales?! The job role isn't a big one... in fact I create posts every other week, but with the main blog and the ning community time is only finite.

If you are interested, please check out http://dawandashopdirectorylinks.blogspot.com/2008/11/become-guest-editor-on-dawanda-shop.html where I have given you full details of the free promotional gifts you will get in return!
